According to BloombergNEF data, Asia recorded the world’s highest increase in jet fuel demand — up 10.8% from Dec. 3, 2024, to May 13, 2025 — outpacing North America and Western Europe. In Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi led the nation’s flight activity, while Da Nang ranked third with nearly 800 flights per week, the busiest in central Vietnam.
As of May 13, 2025, Vietnam had 6,402 total flights, including 2,506 international and 3,896 domestic routes. Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air dominated the market, accounting for more than 86% of weekly flights. Air travel peaked during the Lunar New Year period, reflecting strong domestic demand.
Regionally, Vietnam’s total flight volume grew about 26% from late November 2024 to early May 2025, marking steady recovery compared with other Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
